celestial glow
Maybe no one can distinguish which voice
Is god’s voice sounding in a summer dusk
Because he calls with the same rising frequency,
The same rasp and rattling rustle the cicadas use
As they cling to the high leaves in the glowing
Dust of the oaks.

my first maternity shoot!
This shoot was so much fun! I actually took these pictures several weeks ago, but a best friend's wedding and being sick for a week delayed my editing process a bit.
Special thanks to J & M...it was an honor and a pleasure to help document such a special time in your lives! ;o)

dragon tears
A couple months ago I came home from work to find a gaggle of neighborhood kids running around our driveway. I was breathlessly greeted by little J., who proceeded to tell me all about "the little glass marbles" that were evidently hidden in the tiny space between the neighbor's fence and our garage and how he found them while playing hide-and-seek and were they mine and did I know where they came from because they're really pretty and should he put them back but maybe he could keep them and and and OH! Did I know what they were?
And as he held out his tiny palm to show me his treasures, like some sort of portkey I was immediately transported to my own childhood neighborhood, my own adventures, my own "little glass marbles" and I remembered, like it was yesterday, what I had been told:
"Those are dragon tears."
And as he looked up at me, eyes wide, I swear I saw my own excited, 8-year-old reflection smiling back.

fall, je t'aime
ooooh I can feel it coming...and like a kid in a candy store, I can hardly contain myself!!
Maybe it's the crispness in the air, or the sweet smell of dried leaf piles. It could also be my fuzzy gray sweater (14-years-old and counting) finally coming out again after a long summer's nap, or the taste of fresh apples straight from the orchard.
This image was taken last year during our annual apple-picking extravaganza. There's nothing like that first sip of hot apple cider (or watching your mother-in-law climb trees) to get the season started! ;oD

one year
One year ago today, T. and I exchanged wedding vows. It was the most beautiful day I have ever experienced...the people, the location, the energy, the person.
Being surrounded, both physically and spiritually, by all of the people we hold most dear was nothing short of amazing, and a feeling that I will never, ever forget. It was exciting, humbling, hilarious, and heart-wrenching...all rolled into one.
We spent today reminiscing; laughing, crying, and embracing the fact that we are blessed beyond belief to have found one another in this vast, complicated world we call life.
To our family and friends: thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for making September 6th, 2008 the greatest day of our entire lives.
To Tommy...my husband, my soulmate, my best friend: I love you even more today.

constant remedy
being sick is no fun, although a hefty cup of Constant Comment always makes me feel a teensy bit better...
