gate of athena
It's hard to believe that it has already been five years since I studied abroad in Paros, Greece. It seems like just yesterday I was waking up to the bells of The Church of a Hundred Doors and enjoying my daily milopita at the little bakery across from school.
This is a picture of the Gate of Athena Archegetis ("Athena the Leader") and was taken while wandering around the Plaka in Athens. I could have explored these winding, ancient streets all day but instead, in an attempt to capture "the perfect shot," ended up waist-down in a giant pit of mud! Scaling a fence, in flip-flops? Next time I'll wear sneakers. ;o)

maguire
Meet Maguire. He works part-time at the studio and is quite possibly the friendliest little pup I've ever met. He recently got a haircut/bath, and as a result, was extra photogenic today. ;o)

fleeting
The other day I decided to take a walk. Nevermind the cold and drizzle; I felt compelled to wander, so I did.
At one point as I was walking along, I started to get the feeling that someone was watching me. I looked around, and sure enough, she was watching me. At first I didn't think she was real {a ridiculous thought, I know...but I don't think I have ever been so close to a deer in my entire life!} because she just sat there staring at me, still as a stone.
I walked closer. . . and closer. . . and finally, not wanting to push my luck any further, sat down about 20 feet away. I slowly pulled out my camera and took a few shots, and with the exception of a little ear twitch every time the shutter went off, she watched me quietly.
Since neither of us seemed to be going anywhere anytime soon, I decided to switch lenses to see how close I could get. I never did get that chance; when I looked up, she was gone.

little g
Today I had the pleasure of photographing little G, who celebrated his 1st birthday a few weeks ago! Thanks to Mommy and Daddy for being so cool, and especially to little G -- what a sweetheart {and future heart breaker...just look at those baby blues!} ;o)

poladroid
This image was created using Poladroid, a super fun {and free!} little program that takes your digital images and turns them into digital polaroids!
Since Polaroid film is so hard to come by these days {discontinued...expensive...} it was only a matter of time before somebody came up with something as genius as this. It even makes the cool Polaroid sound when it "spits out" your picture, and keeps you {me} bouncing up and down in anticipation for a few minutes while it "develops"!
Check it out, but beware -- it's addicting! ;o)

riding home
Last Wednesday evening, as we were packing up our beach gear and getting ready to head inside, we saw a small crowd gathering around the lifeguard. As we got closer, we saw that he had a bucket full of baby tortugas -- sea turtles! Evidently La Playa Hermosa, the secluded beach that our resort occupies, is a prime location for turtle nesting.
After handing each one of us a baby turtle, the lifeguard told us to simply set the turtles down in the sand -- the turtle would take it from there. It was one of the most miraculous things I have ever witnessed; these precious little creatures, who hadn't been hatched for more than a few hours, already knew exactly what they needed to do and where they were supposed to go.
Simply amazing.
"You may not remember the time you let me go first. Or the time you dropped back to tell me it wasn't that far to go. Or the time you waited at the crossroads for me to catch up. You may not remember any of those, but I do, & this is what I have to say to you: today, no matter what it takes, we ride home together." -Story People
