the first day

Another fresh new year is here . . .
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!

This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!

I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!

-William Arthur Ward

tree talk

I keep hearing
tree talk
water words
and I keep knowing what they mean.

a day for the blues

If you've never listened to the blues song "Stormy Monday," I highly recommend it. It was originally written and recorded by T-Bone Walker back in the 40s, but B.B. King, The Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, and Eva Cassidy (to name a few) have also performed versions. Click here to read more about T-Bone and listen to the song.

Today, I couldn't get it out of my head...

storybook snow

The snow was so beautiful today, I could hardly pry my eyes away from the window. It looked like something you might read about in a storybook: big, fluffy snowflakes, swirling softly and slowly downward. I could sit and watch snow like this for hours...oh wait, I did! ;o)

Happy Sunday.
